VIETNAMESE PASSPORT

 

 

Overseas Vietnamese residing, working or studying in the United States can apply for passport renewal in person at The Consulate General of Vietnam in San Francisco.

 

1. PASSPORT RENEWAL (for those who still keep their expired or to-be-expired passports) 

Required documents:

 Application for a passport renewal.

– 02 new passport size photos (2×2 inches)

– Original expired (or to-be-expired) Vietnam passport

– Copy of first three pages of the Original expired (or to-be-expired) Vietnam passport

– A copy of US green card/ US passport/ valid visa.

– If there is any change in your Name and/or your Personal Identification Number, you can request for these updates on your Passport Amendment/Annotation. Please clearly put down your request (#12 on the Application Form), with supporting documents for name change and/or new ID number (fee applied)

– A MONEY ORDER or CASHIER’S CHECK for the fee made out to the “Vietnam Consulate”.

– Self-stamped and addressed return envelope (if applicants want to receive visa by mail).  To avoid losses during delivery, it is advised to use certified mail of  FEDEX / USPS / UPS  with tracking number for your easy tracking.  The Consulate General shall not be responsible for any missing documents due to your choice of using uncertified mails (FEDEX Ground and UPS Ground are considered as uncertified mails).

-The Consulate General reserves the right to request applicants to supplement additional documents and to provide other relevant information for verification of personal identity).

 

2. PASSPORT REPLACEMENT DUE TO DAMAGE, LOSS

Overseas Vietnamese residing in the US with damaged Vietnam passport or without a Vietnamese passport (due to loss) can apply for passport replacement:

Required documents:

 Application for a passport replacement.

 Biography (CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD)

– 03 new passport size photos (2×2 inches)

– Police incident report of passport loss

– A copy of papers as proof of Vietnam nationality: Birth certificate, identity card, lasser-passer, nationality-relating decisions, child adoption decision…

– A copy of US green card/ US passport/ valid visa (if any)

– If there is any change in your Name and/or your Personal Identification Number, you can request for these updates on your Passport Amendment/Annotation. Please clearly put down your request (#12 on the Application Form), with supporting documents for name change and/or new ID number (fee applied)

3. APPLICATION FOR FIRST TIME PASSPORT:

For those who have never had a Vietnam passport:

Required documents:

 Application for a first time passport.
